How Wrangler Works

Wrangler is designed for copied, backed-up media cards. Offload your card first, verify your backup, then use Wrangler to clean up the copy.

    Drop in one copied card, or a folder holding several, however deep.

    See what will move, clear out, and stay put before anything does.

  3. Wrangle

    Media moves to the top level, junk clears out, and empty folders disappear.

    A plain-English report and undo receipt save before anything moves, and the report fills in what happened when the run ends.

  1. Preview before anything moves

    See a visual before-and-after of the wrangle before a single file changes location.

  2. Your media stays intact

    Wrangler never transcodes, converts, or changes the contents of your media files. Duplicate filenames are only renamed if you choose that option.

  3. No overwrites, no guessing

    Nothing is ever overwritten. When two files want the same name, Wrangler asks whether to add the folder name or leave them where they are, and any file that stays behind is named in the report.

  4. Warnings when it matters

    Wrangler flags things like locked media, spanned clips, duplicate filenames, and camera structures that may need extra care.

  5. Undo even after quitting app

    Every run writes a report and undo receipt before anything moves, so you can restore a wrangled card later.

  6. Rollback if something fails

    If a file cannot move mid-run, Wrangler stops, puts moved files back, and leaves a plain-English failure log.

Flags potential issues

Wrangler Knows When to Say "Slow Down, Partner."

Locked media. Loose folders. Spanned clips. Cards whose media is already in place. Wrangler finds them, flags them, and tells you what it intends to do about each one. Locked media won't budge until it's unlocked. Loose folders that need real moves wait for you to review and opt in. Spanned clips and AVCHD cards get a format caution you read before you confirm. Folders that only need a Tidy Up are marked as one.

Never deleted, never guessed at

Strays, Not Surprises.

Anything Wrangler does not recognize is not guessed at or deleted. It is set aside in a clearly labeled "Strays" folder so you can still review it, access it, and move it back if needed.

Cleanup is narrow: .DS_Store files go to the Trash, empty source folders are removed, and nothing else is touched. On storage with no Trash, .DS_Store files are set aside in a CLEANUP TO DELETE folder instead, where undo can put them back. They're only deleted permanently if you click Delete Them Now, or tell Wrangler to always do that on that drive.
